The Amherst Falcons entered a week of Homecoming festivities the winners of four straight football games, most by a wide margin, thanks in part to some great senior performances.

Sitting atop the CWC Large Conference, following a win versus Weyauwega-Fremont, the Falcons are assured a playoff spot.

Senior captain and standout,  Jake Derezinski, enjoyed a big day against Weyauwega-Fremont, scoring four touchdowns including a 90-yard kick return. His performance saw him nominated Jolly Good Football Player of the Week.

Aside from football, and being named “all-conference” at the end of the season, Derezinski has other goals, some academic, like being named valedictorian. He says that he wants to go to college and earn a business degree. One thing that he said he hopes to do or pursue outside of high school is to “run track in college.”

Derezinski said his dream job or career would be to be that of an accountant or financial planner. He said he wished he had one more year of high school, “mainly for the sports.” Sports are clearly the thing he has enjoyed most about high school. In five years, Derezinski sees himself in a full-time job as either an accountant or some related field.

The Amherst Falcons will finish the regular season against Manawa and division rival Stratford, both on the road. Then it is on to the playoffs!
