Homecoming week is something students look forward to every year. In Amherst, homecoming week is full of class games, teacher games, dress up days, and of course the pep rally. With the week having so many events, it’s hard to choose a favorite.
Ilyana Grawvunder, a senior, said her favorite part of homecoming week was Tuesday and the relay race. It required students to run down and spin around a bat then run back; then, the next two students had to hold a balloon between them all the way down and back; and lastly, two students had to throw a hula hoop over each other all the way down and back. Grawvunder said this was her favorite part because Faith Sopa (me) “wiped out in the student section.” Grawvunder is proud of the video she got of the incident and will definitely cherish it and laugh at it for years to come.
Mason Colligan, a junior, was very quick with his answer. His favorite part of homecoming was at the dance. “Ryan Warzynski body surfing across the stage” was his homecoming highlight. He also LOVED that there were cookies available at the dance, even though they got thrown at people.
Carlos Lopez, also a junior, loved all aspects of homecoming this year. His favorite part, however, was the dodgeball game. Carlos played in the dodgeball game this year. This was his favorite activity because he was “able to help lead his team to victory.” The juniors defeated all the other classes in dodgeball!
Amherst takes homecoming week very seriously so there is always something that people will remember by the end of it. Thanks to the Amherst student council we were able to have a very memorable homecoming week.
