After the big win to kick off the regular season down in the Fox Crossing area, the Falcons returns home to Heartland Farms Field with a win under their belts.
Amherst got on the scoreboard first late in the first quarter when quarterback Michael Glodowski ran the ball himself from the four-yard line. After a failed two point conversion, it was Sophomore Ayden Nerdahl’s turn to get a taste of the end zone, as he extends the team’s lead to 12. It was the start of a big second quarter for Amherst as Senior Jack Seeger recovered a fumble from the Zephyrs and Glodowski once again scores and Nerdahl gets an interception, to take Amherst into halftime with an 18-0 lead.
Amherst scored twice in the third quarter both in the air and on the ground. The biggest play of the game for the Falcons was when Glodowski threw a 40 yard touchdown to Junior Sully Perkins.
After Nerdahl reaches the endzone for the second time, Amherst enters the fourth quarter 31-7. Following a third touchdown by Nerdahl and back-to-back interceptions, Amherst takes the win 37-14. With their efforts last week, Perkins, Nerdahl, and Glodowski are the Amherst players to watch in week two
With week one now come and gone, the book is turned to page two, as the Shiocton Chiefs come to town. Shiocton stands at 0-1 on the year, after losing last week against Iola-Scandinavia 6-32. Seniors Jordan Jahnke and Isaiah Carton are the key players to watch this week, as they were the main components of the Chief’s offense. Jahnke ran for 57 yards on 20 attempts while Carton had 66 yards on 18 attempts, with the lone touchdown scored. Carton also saw some time at quarterback, going 2/7 with 21 yards.
