As the 2024-25 school year officially kicks off and students head back to school, the Falcons carry a 2-0 record into conference play in the new CWC-Large after defeating former conference foe Shiocton 49-20.
With that being said, all eyes look towards this Friday as Amherst sets to kick off the race to another conference title against the Colby Hornets. Colby comes into week three 0-2 on the season after losing 6-21 against Abbotsford in week two.
Junior Sully Perkins leads off the two players to watch this week for the Falcons as his performance the week prior had a big influence on the team. Perkins had three kick returns for the Falcons that totaled in 309 yards as well as two touchdowns. Sam Stuczynski is also a key player to watch. The Senior had 45 rushing yards on seven attempts, as well as the lone sack for the Falcon defense.
As for the Hornets, their key players had big mistakes to their statistic lines in the team’s loss. Quarterback Tayt Smith only had one completed pass out of six attempts, gathering 14 yards for the Hornets as well as an interception. Running back Chase Heeg did most of the heavy lifting for Colby. Heeg ran for 96 yards on 12 attempts, but gave up a fumble.
