This coming week at Amherst High we are celebrating our yearly homecoming. As we gear up for homecoming, there’s a fresh energy at our school thanks to a new group of students. So far, they’ve been fitting in well.
Mylee Filts, a senior at Amherst High School and also executive board Vice President, says, “I think they are doing good; I’ve seen other students helping them out.” Student council advisor Mrs. Prescher agrees, noting, “It’s going very well. It’s a great group of kids.”
One exciting part of this year’s homecoming is the fundraiser for breast cancer awareness. Mylee is particularly excited about it, saying, “I think the fundraiser for breast cancer that we are going to start” is her favorite. It’s a wonderful way to support a good cause while bringing everyone together. Mrs. Prescher also highlights the homecoming dance, saying, “The dance is always very hype and the kids are always excited to be there.” It sounds like it will be a blast!
New student council member Harlee Kirsling loves the dress-up days, saying, “I love to go all out.” These themed days are a fun way for students and staff to show their school spirit.
Mylee plans to keep everyone informed about the themes, stating, “Making sure our themes are known to everyone and keep posting the days.” Plus, Mrs. Prescher mentioned they’ll have cool prizes for those who dress up, which should get even more people involved!
The executive board this year is really coming together. Mylee feels they work well as a team, saying, “I think it’s good; we work really well together and have really good connections.” Mrs. Prescher thinks they’re doing a great job too. “It’s great; all of the girls are really great leaders.” Harlee adds, “I think it’s a great group of girls; they get along very well.”
Looking ahead, there’s a lot to be excited about. Mylee wants to host more fundraisers to get students involved: “To host more fundraisers and get the student body more active.” Mrs. Preacher is looking forward to the winter formal and Christmas week while Harlee is curious about what goes on behind the scenes.
Overall, this year’s homecoming promises to be a memorable one. With a dedicated team, fun activities, and a focus on community, it looks like we’re in for a great time. Let’s all join in, have fun, and make some awesome memories together! Here’s to a fantastic homecoming!
