Seven weeks of practice, team meals, and Friday Night Lights all culminate in one of the biggest games in the entire state, as the Falcons hit the road once more to renew their rivalry with the Stratford Tigers. Both teams come into this game undefeated on the year, and only one will walk out as the sole possessor of first place.
The Falcons look to be the underdogs by a hair under quarterback Michael Glodowski. The junior has gone 30/41 for 501 yards with eight touchdowns and two interceptions. On the ground, he has run for 537 yards and 10 touchdowns. All eyes, however, will be on who will be the main wide receiver for the Falcons, with Sully Perkins sustaining a leg injury and out for the foreseeable future. One person Amherst can turn to is Cannen Hodges. The Junior is most notable for the winning touchdown for the Falcons on Homecoming night against Weyauwega-Fremont. Outside of the big catch, he’s gained 113 yards on nine receptions.
On the Tiger’s side, it will be Jack Tubbs at the helm for Stratford. The Senior quarterback went 49/64 for 627 yards, eight touchdowns, and three interceptions. Jett Schoenherr is his main wide receiver, catching 19 of his passes for 240 yards and three touchdowns. On the ground, it will be Reid Miller’s time to shine, as he has ran for 303 yards and five touchdowns over the past seven weeks.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on October 11, so make sure to roll out of bed, grab the Santa hats, ugly Christmas sweaters, and eggnog while you make the trek north of cheer on the Falcons in one of the biggest games of the year!
