From the best seats I’ve ever been gifted, I stood in the rain at Lambeau Field for two quarters before bolting for the exit with my long lens camera in tow. A persistent rain was coming down hard when the Packers and the Lions headed to their locker rooms at halftime with the UW-Madison marching band taking the field in a guest appearance. At that point, after shooting some 200 photographs, I surrendered to the conditions, throwing in the towel. It was a special treat to watch professional football players as well as a collegiate band from such a great vantage point, but whether it’s fishing, duck hunting, or football, the rain is a spoiler rarely beaten. And with no way to stay dry, or protect my equipment, I decided to get out ahead of traffic and start moving on Monday. Nonetheless, a few good photos were obtained through the use of a standard 300 mm lens. Perhaps I’ll print a few and with a little good fortune I’ll one day come across one of the players pictured and ask him to sign it. All in a rainy day’s work!
