April 29: Amherst 7, Shiocton 1
Amherst Falcons Softball snaps 4 game losing streak with 7-1 win at Shiocton.
Aubrey Chandler led the Falcons with 4 hits. Ivy Boelk added three hits including a double while Makenna Orsund and Taylor Klieforth each had 2 singles. Calee Schulist slammed a pinch hit double.
Sam Nooyen warned the win striking out 8 while giving ING up 2 walks.
April 24: Weyauwega Fremont 1, Amherst 0
Amherst Falcons Softball lost 1-0 to Weyauwega Fremont.
The Falcons out-hit the Warhawks 6-2 but couldn’t get a run across.
Sam Nooyen gave another great pitching performance, only giving up 2 hits.
April 17: Manawa 3, Amherst 1
Amherst (1-0) took on first-place and ninth-ranked Manawa (4-0) at home. But an Amherst seventh-inning rally fell short when Manawa’s centerfielder made a diving catch to end the game with two runners on for Amherst.
Sam Nooyen took the hard luck loss, striking out eight, giving up no walks, and all the Manawa runs were unearned. Delaney Conner led the Falcon hitters with two hits. Makenna Orsund, Leah Kisting, Ivy Boelk, and Taylor Klieforth each added singles.
Amherst falls to 6-3 on the season and 1-1 in conference play.
April 15: Amherst 7, Neillsville/Granton 6
Amherst scored three runs in the top of the seventh and then held on to beat Neillsville/Granton 7-6.
The Falcons pounded out 15 hits led by Delaney Conner, who went 3-4, with Makenna Orsund, Presley Voss, Leah Kisting, and Allison Lassa all getting 2 hits each. Orsund and Calee Schulist each blasted doubles.
Sam Nooyen picked up the win for Amherst by striking out six batters.
Freshman Taylor Klieforth got her first varsity hit when she pinch hit in the sixth, while fellow freshman Sam Zilisch celebrated her birthday with her first varsity action, scoring a big seventh-inning run when she courtesy ran for Presley Voss.

April 10: Amherst 19, Menominee Nation 1
April 8: Assumption 2, Amherst 0
The Falcons lost their home opener to Assumption 2-0.
Pitcher Sam Nooyen did all she could to keep Amherst in the game, giving up one earned run, striking out six Royals hitters while walking one.
Amherst bats struggled as Leah Kisting and Presley Voss were the only Falcons to get hits.
Amherst falls to 4-2 and will host Menominee Indian on Thursday.
April 5: Amherst 5, New London 3
Amherst traveled to New London where Sam Nooyen kept the Bulldogs bats silent in the 5-3 win in eight innings.
Makenna Orsund and freshman Ava Dambroski hit doubles for Amherst. Orsund and sophomore Whytni Venne had two hits each to lead the Falcon hitters.
Nooyen pitched a gem, striking out seven, walking two, and not giving up any earned runs.
April 1: Amherst 9, Westfield 8
The Falcons held off Westfield to win 9-8 in Westfield. Errors and sloppy play kept the game close, but a long fly out caught by Delaney Connor sealed the win.
Sam Nooyen was on fire at the plate, going 4-4 with a double. Aubrey Chandler, Rachel Portmann, and Leah Kisting all added two hits each with freshman Portmann driving a two-out single to score two Falcon runners.
Nooyen also picked up the win, striking out 10 while walking only one and giving up 10 hits.
Falcons improve to 3-1 and will travel to New London on Saturday.
