With a distinctive voice and manner, this student hopes, not surprisingly, to study acting in college. Specifically, Tiris Byrd is interested in voice acting, and hopes to hone his skills at UW-Stevens Point. Outside of school, he enjoys music, video games, and spending time with friends creating podcasts and memories.
TIris’s dream job is to become a voice actor because he “really likes to contribute entertainment to the world, and the best way is through [his] voice.” He intends to achieve this goal through coursework and performances during his time at UWSP.
A person that he looks up to is Tom Kenny, because Tiris has a lot of respect for him as a voice actor and also thinks he is a cool person. One of Tiris’s favorite memories from school is podcasting class, where he got to build and make a podcast with his friends. He enjoys coming up with ideas, recording, and editing the episodes, and it gave him a chance to be creative while spending time with his friends.
Some of his favorite activities from this summer included going to the Minnesota State Fair and getting a good corndog, as well as going to visit House on the Rock. He also spent time listening to indie music, which he enjoys because it inspires his imagination and he finds it pleasant. Playing video games is another activity he enjoys because it is fun and helps him relax. He also enjoys the book A Wrinkle in Time and says he would read it if he was stranded. An object in this room that he really likes in Mr. Van Lannen’s class is the Cthulhu poster.
Tiris is a creative and enthusiastic person who enjoys exploring his interests in voice acting, making podcasts with friends, playing video games, and listening to music. His hobbies and experiences, from visiting fun places to reading his favorite books, show what he enjoys and what inspires him. So the next time you hear his voice in the hallway, remember that someday you may hear that same voice in your favorite commercial or cartoon!
