The Amherst Soccer team showed up on October 25 versus the Richland Center Hornets and quickly proved they weren’t there to mess around. Amherst exposed the Hornet’s weaknesses and slowly chipped away at them until there was enough of a gap to put the final nails in the box. Amherst kept punching at the Hornets, and eventually the Falcons became the new Hornet Killer, defeating the Hornets 8-0 to win the Regional Final.
“This team deserves some hardware to prove how good you guys are, and you guys really did it,” said Coach Ryan Pikka to the team after the game. “If I said I was proud right now, that would be a true understatement.”
Senior Ayden Kazda stood out against the Hornets, scoring his 100th goal of his Amherst career. Senior Milo Graham scored 2 goals with Everet Elizalde adding one. And Shayden Abbott-Beversdorf added to the mix with a goal and three assists, making him the top “assister” at the game that night.
No matter how cold the night may have gotten, the Falcons prevailed and face the adversity head on. There is no doubt in my mind, the fans’ minds, and the opponents’ minds that the Amherst Falcons are here and ready to do anything to try and earn themselves a title and some more hardware. The Falcons are truly here to prove their point that they are the ones to be worried about.
The Falcons now travel to go fight the Arcadia Knights on October 30 at 4 p.m. If enough people sign up, there will be a fan bus to Arcadia to watch the game on Thursday.
