Our Mimi is a very special grandma

Growing up when I was little, we had given our grandma the name of Mimi. I honestly don’t know how it was created or where and who it was brought up from. Even though it has stuck for all these years, like glue, we have been calling her that for years, and nothing has changed. She enjoys being called Mimi, and as other family members call her that, too. She enjoys the company of her grandkids as well as friends and family. Each time we would get to spend the day at her house, every morning, we would be greeted by warm hugs and kisses just like from a bear or your favorite dog. She would feel like a second home to me even though she is getting older every year. She looks like she doesn’t age at all. She spends all day either watching TV or doing something productive, even at her age. She spends so much time making sure my brother and I have the best time at her house during the summers or any season. That she would be the best grandma for anyone. When we visit her, she has the biggest heart like no other. She cares about everyone around her, no matter what she thinks of them or how they think of her. Although she is able to stand up to others who think of her differently, she will let them know what she thinks. Even how short she may seem. She always has the best attitude and knows the best way to make anyone smile.

Everyone knows some of the best well-known actions a grandma can do, which are baking cookies and giving hugs and kisses. However, her Christmas Cookies are to die for. As well as her hugs as you walk into the door or see her anywhere you are. Mimi can do that and much more that many people wouldn’t think would be possible at her age. She is the best at getting things done. You could give her a list of things to do as if she owned a multi-million dollar business, and she would get everything from important to non-important done on the same day. Give her something to clean or organize; she will have it done in the blink of an eye.

She is still able to do the things most middle-aged adults do daily. She spends time outside, making her garden and lawn perfect as a painting. She spends every spring spending countless amounts of time picking out the right flowers and plants to grow in her backyard, not to mention how much she spends on them, too. She is the type of grandma who takes pride in her work and likes to share it with her friends. With the energy every day, she is still able to go out and do things most 75-year-old people wouldn’t be able to do, which can be basic errands.

The relationship between me and my grandma is just how it should be when you have a fantastic grandma like her. She texts me before every hockey game, wishing me luck, and continuously checks in with me to see how things are going at school and in life. She is there for me whenever I need someone. She is someone who can never be replaced and can never have the same effect and relationship that we have, like bees to a flower.

Mimi is a second mom and a best friend to me. One that I hope never leaves or is replaced. She means the world to me because I think that there is no other grandma who provides so much for her grandchildren as she does. She is the best grandma that I have ever met.
