The Amherst Falcon baseball team opened tournament play last week, taking on the Nekoosa Papermakers at home for the first round of the D3 Regionals.

The boys got it done, winning 9-5. Logan Hintz, Sully Perkins, and Jacob Ruggles each had two hits, and Sully Perkins and Gage Glodowski each chipped in one. Logan actually had a triple in the win, and Michael Glodowski gets the win on the mound.

The result and the outcome are great, but the game was cut short due to a medical emergency on the Nekoosa side. The Falcon Family sends messages of hope and healing to the Papermaker baseball community.

Thanks to the win, Amherst advanced to play Pacelli in the semi-finals at home on Tuesday, June 2. Unfortunately, the Falcons’ 2026 season came to an end with the team losing 16-4. The game stayed close, with Amherst scoring three runs in the second inning, and Pacelli doing the same in the fourth. But in the fifth inning, the Cardinals’ bats came alive, scoring six runs. Amherst tried to rally in the sixth with two runs, but it was too little, too late.

The team would like to express its thanks to the coaches, families, players, parents, and school staff for another successful spring. And a special shout-out to the team’s four seniors — Michael Glodowski, Logan Hintz, Gage Glodowski, and Sully Perkins — for leaving a great impression on the Amherst program.
