In the past, there’s been an ice cream tragedy of Greek proportions. You see, when you’d walk into your good old ice cream shop with your friends you see the classic trio: vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. All three are absolutely delicious in all their own ways. From the creaminess of vanilla, to the grounded chocolate, and the fruitiness of strawberry. But do you know what was said every time? They said:
“Don’t pick vanilla. It’s plain and boring!” One may find this silly, but that was the sentiment amongst children and teenagers of the 50s, 60s, 70s, and really any time up until present day. In fact, some today still believe this absolute biased lie. It’s a shame. A pure ridiculous shame. Especially since vanilla ice cream is really delicious.
Vanilla has this rich and smooth flavor that coats your very soul with a comforting coolness that leaves you feeling good about yourself. It’s a delectable treat that you may not understand how delicious it is until you stop absentmindedly eating it and focus on its flavor. I am speaking of vanilla ice cream you find within shops and tubs, not fast food vanilla. That is a different beast and flavor. Vanilla bean and normal vanilla ice cream you find in grocery stores is where you find the delights described.
It goes well with just about every dessert. With brownies chocolate ice cream is too much chocolate, so add vanilla. With apple pie strawberry ice cream would be odd and often not very appetizing, so add vanilla. It goes well with everything because vanilla is an everything flavor within the beauty of the world of sweets. Therefore, vanilla ice cream should not be considered plain. It should be considered an all around dessert that can work to satiate your sweet tooth.
Now some people will not agree with this little blurb upon the scrumptious iced cream vanilla, but I tell you that that is okay. This story isn’t meant to convince you that vanilla is supreme or even to tell you to like vanilla ice cream, but to ask you not to call vanilla plain. It is to point out how underrated that vanilla has been and still is today. However, my opinion shouldn’t be the only addition to this topic today. What about your opinion? What do you think of vanilla ice cream?
