April 9 @ Weyauwega: Congrats to the varsity boys golf team on their first win of the season. Senior Daniel Eichmann led the team, shooting three over par, and was the number one individual. Junior Ethan Haas was six over and took fourth place. Sophomore Sonny Graham was 10 over, finishing in sixth place, and senior Cannen Hodges was 13 over and in 13th place. Mario Giombetti hit the golf course like he was hitting Bowser — lots of power, but zero accuracy. He finished in 18th place. The Falcons are back at it on Monday at Cedar Springs in Manawa.
April 13 @ Cedar Springs: Congrats to the Amherst golf team on taking another first place at Cedar Springs in Manawa. The trio of Daniel Eichmann, Ethan Haas, and sophomore Lucas Leary could not be beaten, going five under in their scramble and two under in the best-ball format. Mario Giombetti, Sonny Graham, and freshman Owen Gregorich were not far behind, going two under in their scramble and one over for best ball. Next up for the varsity is Whistling Straits on Friday.

April 21 @ Sand Valley: Congratulations to the boys varsity golf team on taking second place at Sand Valley. The Mauston golf team was able to edge them out by only one stroke. Daniel and Ethan led the team with personal scores of 74 and 76, while Lucas Leary, Owen Gregorich, and Cannen Hodges contributed to the team score on numerous holes. Next up for the Falcons is Pine Valley on Thursday.
April 23 @ Pine Hills: Congrats to the Amherst boys golf team on finishing in first place at Pine Hills Golf Club with a team score of 336. Ethan Haas tied for first, shooting a 79. Daniel Eichmann and Lucas Leary tied for sixth with an 84. Owen Gregorich placed 12th with an 89. Mario Giombetti wasted no time pounding 20 Bubbl’rs before his first tee shot, locking in for his personal best of 91. Next up is the team’s first conference meet where they will look to defend their conference title.
April 28 @ Foxfire: The Amherst Varsity boys’ golf team took first place at their conference meet at Foxfire by 18 strokes. Leading the Falcons was Daniel Eichmann, who tied for first place by shooting an 80. Freshman Owen Gregorich came in clutch, tying for fourth place by shooting an 84. Ethan Haas placed seventh overall with a score of 85. Mario Giombetti placed 12th with a score of 90. Lucas Leary’s scorecard was taken by a gust of wind,, never to be seen again. The Falcons play another conference meet on Thursday at Shamrock Heights.
April 30 @ Shamrock Heights: The Amherst boys’ golf team took first in their conference meet in New London. This time, they beat the competition by 29 strokes. Ethan Haas led the way, shooting 79 and taking fourth place. Daniel Eichmann shot 81 and finished seventh overall. Mario Giombetti shot his personal best of 86 and placed 12th. Lucas Leary shot 88 and placed 14th. Unfortunately for freshman Owen Gregorich, he was not the Luigi to our Mario. His side quest got him a team high 96. The Falcons are back at it in another conference showdown on Monday, where they look to extend their 47-stroke lead.
May 4 @ Maple Hills: The Amherst varsity boys golf team fell short at Maple Hills, placing second by three strokes. Ethan Haas led the way with a team low 83, finishing third overall. Daniel Eichmann finished with an 84 for sixth place. Lucas Leary shot an 88, finishing 11th overall. Owen Gregorich shot a 92, finishing 19th overall. The wind grabbed Mario’s scorecard, saw the numbers, and said, “Yeah, this needs to disappear.”
May 7 @ Northern Bay: The varsity boys golf team placed third out of 24 at Northern Bay yesterday. Daniel and Ethan both placed third with a score of 79. Owen placed 23rd with a score of 86. Cannen Hodges shot a 93, and Mario shattered his driver alongside his scorecard. The boys are back at it on Monday and looking to become conference champs again.
May 11 @ Riverside: Congratulations to the Amherst boys’ golf team on becoming back-to-back conference champions! The boys finished the season in first place at the conference final. Ethan Haas was named first team all-conference, Daniel Eichman was second team all-conference, and Mario had himself a day and finished with honorable mention all-conference. Way to go, gentlemen!
May 14 @ Clover Greens: The varsity boys placed second by three strokes. Daniel and Ethan both shot 78. Mario shot 82, Cannen 88, and Lucas was rewarded with cleaning out the van for shooting the highest score.
May 19 @ Thornberry: The varsity boys golf team concluded their regular season with a first-place finish at Thornberry Creek. The team shot a 335, winning by three strokes. Daniel Eichmann led the way with a top-three finish, shooting 79. Lucas Leary finished 12th with an 83. Ethan Haas finished 16th with an 86. Cannen Hodges finished 18th with an 87, and Mario’s score earned him another van clean out. The boys have regionals next Tuesday. Wish them luck!
Post-Season Results
May 26 Regionals @ Lake Breeze: The boys’ golf team missed the cut to sectionals by just two strokes. Ethan Haas led the way, shooting a 77, which will move him on to sectionals as an individual.
