Poetry: A Summer Day

Poetry%3A+A+Summer+Day

A summer day

I open the door and the sun is shining down on me beaming
I stand there looking outside just daydreaming
I go outside with my dog and throw his ball to play fetch
While he’s retrieving it I begin to stretch.

We begin to walk toward the woods and there is a nest of bees
They’re buzzing around us while we walk I get stung on the knee
I see a patch of daisies, I pick them for my mom she loves flowers
We’ve been mindlessly walking the woods for hours.

We start to walk back to the house for a busy day
Once we get into the house I make the flowers into a bouquet
I leave them on the counter for my mom to see
I hop in the shower so I can get ready for the day and be free.

I am late for my tee time so I drive like a NASCAR driver
I get there with with no time, I make it just by the wire
I’m on the first tee and I slice the ball like a banana
It’s so hot and humid out here it feels like the city of Savannah.

When my round is done I go get in my car
I have a drive that is going to be quiet far
Once I get home I sit down and go on my phone
I get ready for bed and fall asleep on my couch all alone.
