The weather was hot at the Central Wisconsin (CWC) Conference Track Meet hosted by Weyauwega on Sat., May 16, topping 80 degrees, but the performances were even hotter with several new records posted by a variety of athletes including those from Amherst.

Two Amherst school records were broken by our athletes as well as two conference records and we were only .18 seconds from yet another record,” said
Amherst track coach Jennifer Wierzba. “Numerous athletes earned conference team standing; all in all, we could not have asked for a better day of competition. So proud of everyone!”

As a team, the girls placed fourth overall while the boys finished fifth.

Conference results:

1st place finishes (1st team All- Conference):

● 4 x 800 relay — Erick Gunther, Deqlund Waltenberg, Andrew Brimhall, and Morgan Brown.
● Long jump –– Ayden Nerdahl (Ayden’s jump broke his previous school record and set a new conference record)
● 100m high hurdles— Lexi Wierzba
● Discus — Lexi Wierzba (* new conference record)
● High jump — Elise Christianson
● 4 x 200 relay — Jozzie Stuczynski, Elise, Ava Straw, and Lexi (their race set a new
school record)

2nd place finishes (2nd team All- Conference):

● 4 x 100 relay — Carter Groshek, Cal Lusic, Taylan McCormick, Tyler Loken
● 4 x 200 relay –– Groshek, McCormick, Loken, Colton Vanderlaan
● 4 x 400 relay — Vanderlaan, McCormick, Tyler Johnson, Elliot Podeszwa (just two-tenths of a second from breaking current record)
● Triple Jump — Cal Lusic

3rd place & earning Honorable Mention:
● Shot put – Lexi Wierzba
● High Jump – Ava Straw
