It was a sunny and warm June 2nd as The Amherst Softball team traveled to FirePro Field at Woyak Park in Plover to take on the Wautoma Hornets. Amherst was seeded as the three seed while Wautoma was the two seed. They both met earlier in the season, were Amherst lost 6-10.

Junior Haley Peskie pitched all seven innings of the game. The defense however could not keep up with the Hornet’s hitters, as multiple at-bats resulted in a base hit. Even though Amherst outhit Wautoma 5-2, they could not bounce back from a early deficit. The Falcons lost 1-2.

Wautoma heads to Goodman Diamond in Madison for the WIAA State Tournament. Amherst’s season ends with a season record of 16-8.
